Full time or part time position available to an experienced bicycle mechanic at Hardwood Ski & Bike. Primary responsibilities include tuning, maintaining, and repairing customer bikes, as well as repairing and maintaining a rental fleet of approximately 40 mountain bikes.

Emphasis is placed on the highest degree of quality possible in the work accomplished and on cooperation and communication with fellow workers and Management.

Responsibilities:
• Checking and repairing rental bike fleet as required for safety and performance
• Interacting with customers to take work orders and give repair estimates
• Performing small on-the-spot repairs, "tune ups" and full overhauls
• Meeting deadlines for repair work (clients and rental orders)
• Maintaining records on repair work and parts used
• Keeping bike shop inventory updated
• Assisting fellow staff with bike-related questions
• Maintaining a high level of customer service and professionalism with clients and fellow staff
• Assisting other staff when required
• Willingness to assist in other departments if necessary

• Ability to cope with repetition
• Ability to ask questions and seek information/guidance when required

Bicycle specific skills:
• Identifying problems through quick visual/hands-on inspection/testing
• Installing cables (brake, shift) and housing
• Adjusting cable actuated shifters and brakes, derailleurs
• Straightening a bent derailleur hanger
• Adjusting and troubleshooting hydraulic brake systems
• Hose replacement/bleeding of disc brakes
• Cleaning drivetrain components/drivetrain replacement
• Truing wheels
• Adjusting and troubleshooting suspension components and systems
• Overhauling hubs/headsets
• Installing/troubleshooting bottom brackets
• Working technical knowledge of bike specification standards
• Communicating technical information/estimates through phone calls
• Maintaining professional/personal performance standard for mechanical work

The position is seasonal full time, although part time work may be an option.  Some weekends are mandatory.  Opportunity to work year round is a possibility.

Pay rate dependent upon experience.
