The UCI announced today that the 2014 UCI 4X World Championships will be held in Saalfelden-Leogang, Austria. The competition will take place on June 13-14, in parallel with the sixth round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano (June 14-15).

Leogang-Saalfelden hosted the UCI 4X World Championships in 2013, the first year that the 4X Worlds were separated out from the World Championships for the other mountain bike disciplines. Leogang Event Gmbh have vast experience staging major international competitions, having hosted the 2012 UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships and several rounds of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup.

UCI President Brian Cookson welcomed the announcement: "Over the years, Leogang has become an extremely popular mountain bike destination, especially for the gravity specialists. The resounding success of last year's 4X World Championships leaves us in no doubt that the 2014 edition will be equally spectacular. Once again, the World Championships will be held at the same time as a round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup for the downhill discipline, which will add to the excitement. We can expect a breathtaking weekend of racing in Leogang."

The 2014 UCI MTB Marathon World Championships will take place in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa on June 29th, and the 2014 UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships for Cross-country, Eliminator and Downhill will take place in Hafjell, Norway, on September 2-7.
