The Foundation for Athletic Excellence Quebec (FAEQ) and Saputo has announced the names of 41 student-athletes who shared a total of $134,000 in scholarships. Twenty-one recipients were awarded a scholarship for academic excellence and 20 others received a scholarship to support the academic and athletic success. This initiative includes a five-year, $1 million partnership between Saputo and the FAEQ.
Two cyclists are included in the list of sponsored athletes - Joelle Numainville ($5000) and Maghalie Rochette ($4000).
Mr. Claude Chagnon, President of the FAEQ, said: "Saputo is supporting young, promising student athletes and following them until they emerge on the national and international stage. Among the 41 recipients this year, 28 of them have been supported by the company for at least two years and some are receiving a fifth consecutive Saputo scholarship. This shows a great sign of trust and loyalty to the young people who go through all sorts of challenges in reconciling their training, their competition and the success of their studies in parallel."
