October 21/97 0:46 am - `98 MTB Schedule, New websites

There have been a couple of changes to the `98 National Mountain Bike Calendar it appears. First, the Nationals (at Silverstar, B.C.) have been moved up a week to August 15-16, and the Whistler Canada Cup event has moved to August 22-23. This has resulted in the Nationals being removed from the Canada Cup schedule (ie, no Canada Cup points), with the Whistler race now being the Canada Cup Final. The only drawback to this is that the Whistler race conflicts with the Norba National Series Final in Vermont - a problem for some pro-elite riders who ride for U.S. squads (read: most of Canada‚s top pros). There are going to be more changes, particularly in the tabulating of points, but we don‚t have all the details yet.   We have received news that Lesley Tomlinson will be leaving Kona to race for the U.S.-based Polo team.   Within the next week there will be two new sites linked to our page - the Cyclo-cross Nationals and `98 Mountain Bike World Championships websites.
