Registration Update

Today is the last day to register online for the Saskatchewan Canada Cup taking place this coming weekend. Registration closes at 8:00 pm EDT. Registration for the Northumberland Challenge will increase in cost by $10 after tomorrow (July 27th), and will close August 3rd. For the Canmore Cactus Cup/Canada Cup, the cost will go up $10 per event ($20 for the stage race) after July 28th, with registration closing August 3rd.

Of particular note is Jeff Archbold's 3rd. Place. Jeff rode a very smart race and had several Mississauga team mates set him up for the early sprints, before the scratch group caught the handicap bunch.

August 22nd. The Tuesday criterium wil be held on a 2km circuit at Downsview Park North York. Watch for details!!


Quebec Bike Festival

Peter Ethier (coordinator) and Philippe Deguire of Parc Mont Glen are pleased to announce BIKEFEST 2000. The first ever mountain bike festival to be held in Eastern Canada. This will be the Woodstock of mountain biking. It will be taking place on September 15, 16 & 17, 2000 at Parc Mont Glen, in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. It is three days of mountain biking, two nights of partying. BIKEFEST will include planned events (most consecutive bunny hops, longest track stand, tire toss, bike toss and the mud bod) and races (cross country, downhill and uphill) as well as guided group rides for all levels of ability. There will be lots of prizes and fun. Several of today's leading manufacturers will be on site with their latest demos.

Camping available at Parc Mont Glen for those wishing to stay on site for the weekend. Registration cost is $40.00 per person for the weekend. Camping is $20.00 per person for the weekend.

A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Missing Children's Network and The Telethon for Research into Children's Diseases.

Parc Mont Glen is just outside of Knowlton, QC about 1 hour from Montreal. For those preferring not to camp, there are lots of B & B's in the area.


Sunglasses Stolen in Montreal

Smith Sport Optics reports that $375,000 (Canadian retail) worth of sunglasses and goggles were stolen from a Canada Customs shed in Montreal. Retailers should be wary of anyone offering to sell them Smith glasses who is not an authorized rep.
