Our man on the spot - Greg Flaaten - says that in the men's race Hestler, Miles and Wedge rode together for most of the first two-thirds of the race, before Hestler and Miles powered away from Wedge. Hestler, who had not pre-ridden the course before the race, finished approximately 45 seconds in front of Miles, with Wedge 3 minutes back. In the women's race, it was Trish Sinclair in a class of her own, as she led from start to finish.
