December 16/15 8:38 am - Canadian Cyclist of the Year Voting Update

Posted by Editor on 12/16/15

As we enter the final three days of voting in the 2015 Canadian Cyclist of the Year awards, there are still no clear leaders in any of our categories, reflecting the depths of the fields.

Mountain bikers Emily Batty and Catherine Pendrel are tied atop the Best Female standings, with Road and Track star Jasmin Glaesser close behind.

Mountain biker and Cyclo-cross champion Raphael Gagne has taken the lead in the Best Male competition, but Road rider Mike Woods continues to challenge. Track sprinter Hugo Barrette is third, but would require a big surge in votes to move into the lead.

In the voting for the Best Performance, Gagne's Pan Am gold medal performance leads, but the competition is wide open, with Emily Batty, Mike Woods, Jasmin Glaesser, the Women's Team Pursuit squad and Allison Beveridge all close enough to change the standings.

The rider voting procedure reflects the fact that it can be difficult to select just one athlete to vote for. Instead, you will be able to rank your preferences, with the top rank receiving 5 points, the second receiving 4 points, etc. The athlete (and performance) receiving the highest average "grade" wins.

From your votes we will select the top Canadian Cyclists of 2015.

Voting ends on Friday, December 18th, so Vote Now!
