National Track Team Report
(courtesy Kurt Innes - National Team Coach)

Another day, and another country .

Arrived into Bordeaux, France yesterday night after a horrific day of travel. Either I'm getting old, or transatlantic flights are way too boring and long?

Got onto the track today in Bordeaux (athletes rode, and I did the coach thing ..... basically sittin and watchin ! ), totally beautiful facility. For those who've never been .... 250 meter wood track, surrounding a 200 meter banked 4 lane running track. We were the first to ride on the track after a 10 month closure due to the roof being blown off in a huge ice and wind storm last December. Ironic honour, being in France , and having Canadians riding on the track after a closure before the locals !!!

Weather is a bit yucky right now, rain and cool. But looks to be clearing up soon.

Tomorrow is our first race day here in Europe. A smaller one day sprint grand prix. (grand prix de l'humanite) France -vs - Canada format. We have 5 males here (Lars Madsen, Steen Madsen, Kyle Hudson, Doug Baron, and Jim Fisher) along with Lori-ann Muenzer as our lone Canadian women. Racing format is a sprint tournament (250 t.t, plus 3 rounds of sprint, then an Olympic Sprint, and finishing off with a Keirin ). THere are 4 French guys here, along with 2 women. 3 of the French men are medalists from Sydney, and (Felicia) Ballanger is of course double gold medalist from Sydney (French female athlete). Racing should be very fun, and challenging for our group.

They have seating in the middle of the track for 800 people, with tables and a buffet style meal planned. Should be a great show !!!

That's it for today...

Kurt
