National Track Camp Report #2
Courtesy Kurt Innes
Our first night on the boards in Burnaby was awesome. We had an incredible turnout (our camp attendees, along with 25 local Vancouver athletes). The track was buzzin with activity, and riders.
Thanks to Ray Decenzo and the members of the Burnaby Velodrome Club for allowing our crew from across Canada to join their club members during their club sessions this week.
The first nights program was fairly basic, and after splitting our group of 27 athletes into 2 smaller groups we headed onto the track. The first hour of the practise was spent "warming up", with two 15' sessions per group. After receiving the "locals instructions" about track etiquette we were totally at home on the 47 degree banking. The turn out of riders during the local club sessions here is incredible. With almost 50 riders at the session, the atmosphere was very dynamic and tons of fun.
Anyways, today (Sunday) is our "shopping" day. We are heading into down town Van today to do some looking around. Two sessions on Monday on the track coming up, then we will have some good stories and good highlights to share.
Happy Birthday to..... MTB XC racer Lisa Holmgren, today.
