Gears Racing Ontario Cup #1 at Dagmar

Great weather and dry course conditions welcomed 640 riders to the Gears Racing Ontario Cup #1 at Dagmar Mountain Bike Centre. This very fast early season course saw World Cup star Seamus McGrath, Haro / Lee Dungarees pull in consistent sub-26 minute laps on the 9.3 km long course. Ozzy Baker, Gears Racing had an excellent showing in second with a consistent Josh Hall, KHS in third. Their early season fitness still couldn't match Seamus as he pulled away on the first lap and never looked back ending up with a 3 minute lead.

The Pro/Elite womens saw Jennifer Brown come from behind to win the event followed by Leslie Greene, GT / Hardwood, and Sue Trimble, Gears Racing.

This first Ontario Cup had the added confusion of being a Canada Games selection event. In the Canada Games category, Ryan Savoy, Gears Racing guaranteed himself a spot while the phenomenal duo from Bay Cycle, Eric Batty and Derek Zandstra finished in second and third! The Canada Games women's event saw some excellent racing with former downhill rider, Cydney Galbraith, Team Asteria - Freewheel dropping the hammer on the field. An excellent showing by Catherine Vipond, Bay Cycle in second followed by Helena Coney, Team Hardwood. Next stop Canada Games!
