Hoof and Mouth Will Not Affect World Cup
There have been lots of rumours circulating concerning the Hoof and Mouth epidemic, and how it will affect the mountain bike World Cup races coming up in Europe. We contacted UCI Technical Delegate Christophe Burri, and received the following response:
"I want to inform you that at the moment there are no worries about foot and mouth for the race in Belgium. Houffalize is located in an area where there are no problems at all. Ultimately, the only authority which can cancel such an event is the national government, which means that the UCI is not involved in such decisions.
A press release might be issued in the next few days in order to calm everyone."
The World Cup prior to Houffalize is in Sarentino, Italy, where there is also no concern about the epidemic.
Happy Birthday To...
Seamus McGrath, tomorrow.
