After three days of voting, hundreds of ballots have been cast for the 2024 Canadian Cyclist of the Year awards. While the voting is still too close to make any definitive calls, there are some patterns appearing.
In the voting for Female cyclist of the year, two-time world champion Isabella Holmgren has taken a strong lead, with nearly three-quarters of first place votes. Rafaelle Carrier and Olivia Baril are in a virtual tie for second place. Holmgren's world title in the Under-23 XCO dominates the Individual Performance for women.
Derek Gee, who finished top-10 overall in the Tour de France, leads the Male category with 44% of first place votes, followed by Dylan Bibic and Mike Woods who are tied for second. Derek Gee's Criterium du Dauphine stage win leads Mike Woods' stage win at the Vuelta a Espana in Individual Performance voting.
In the Para categories, it is too close to call for Nathan Clement and Alexandre Hayward in the Male voting, and Mel Pemble holds a slim lead over Keely Shaw and Kate O'Brien in the Female race. Nathan Clement's ITT world title leads the Individual Performance voting, ahead of his silver medal at the Paralympics and Mel Pemble's world record 500m TT at the Paralympics.
From your votes we will select the top Canadian Cyclists of 2024.
