Report from Robyn (Mark's wife)

Mark placed 3rd at the Omloop v.h. Houtland-Lichtervelde (1.5) in Belgium on Sept 27, 2001 - 183km. The National espoir team was also represented there. According to Mark, it was a dead flat course with wind and rain conditions and a few cobble sections. A group of about 20 got away by mid-race, lots of attacks on the last 3-4 smaller circuits - 4-man break including Mark Walters, 2 teammates from El.2, and a Cofidis rider. The teammates messed up the lead-out, the Cofidis rider (Bel. Geert Omloop) won, Julien Smink (Ned - El.2) 2nd, and Mark Walters (Can - Canadian National Team/ Navigators) was 3rd.
