Burnaby Velodrome Update

Check out the local Burnaby Papers that have been covering the velodrome story:

www.burnabynewsleader.com

and

www.burnabynow.com

The Newsleader has an article on their site and another is coming out this weekend. The Burnaby Now has an article out this week as well, though it looks like they have not updated their web site recently.

The city is still out to lunch on the costs of track repairs because the vast majority have already been completed. The roof will need to be replaced sooner than later. The roof should be good for at least another 5 years. $1.1 million is a steep estimate for replacement. We are looking at $500,000 minimum nevertheless.

We are hoping to get the track back open in the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately, it now looks like the fair folks of Burnaby Council are only going to give us 6 weeks to get a proper business plan together for operation and upgrade of the facility. We don't believe this is enough time (we think 6 months is reasonable) but we will try nevertheless. We are going to need a lot of focused action in Ottawa and out here to pull this off.
