Gears 24 Hour Spin Time

February means it is once again time to hop on the Spin bike to support cancer and AIDS research and palliative care! It's time for the 3rd Annual Gears 24 Hour Spin Event this Friday, February 22nd at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga. We've gathered over 2000 people to ride more than 150 Spin bikes to raise money for the Trillium Breast Cancer Fund and Casey House AIDS Hospice. The goal is to have every bike in the arena, whether it be ridden by a Solo Athlete (aka someone with a screw loose!!) or team of riders, in motion (well, as much motion as a stationary bike can be in!) for 24 hours straight starting at 8pm on Friday night!

Personally, I will be riding at least 6 hours over the 24! It's time to kick-start that winter training regimen!

That's great... but what does this have to do with you, you ask? You can show your support in the fight against cancer and AIDS through donation. Pledges of $25 or more will receive a tax receipt. Who is the money going to? 100% of pledge money raise will go to the following two charities:

The Trillium Breast Cancer Fund provides dedicated funds for Trillium's Breast Cancer services. Those aspects of prevention, detection, treatment and support essential to the care of breast cancer patients and their families will be brought together in one location at Trillium's Queensway Site in Mississauga. Learn more here: trilliumhealthcentre.org

Casey House Hospice is a freestanding health care facility in Toronto, Canada, providing a comprehensive range of palliative and supportive care services for people living with HIV/AIDS, their families, partners and friends.

If you are interested in pledging, drop me an email and let me know... and, come on out to the Hershey Centre this weekend and take in the event... rumour has Blue Rodeo will be among the entertainers this year!!

Cheers,
Paul Skafel
