3M NCCP Level I MTB Technical Course Conductor

The CCA is coordinating a level I MTB Technical Coaching Course Conductor session scheduled to take place in Calgary, April 25th to 28th, 2002. The session will be offered in English by, Master Course Conductor, Loyal Ma.

Priority will be given to candidates recommended by their provincial or territorial association. The associations are encouraged to subsidize costs for candidates representing the province or territory.

Candidates who successfully complete the four-day session will be certified to teach the NCCP level I MTB Technical course.

Eligibility Requirements: Candidates must be fully certified as a level II MTB coach to be eligible to qualify as a level I MTB Technical Course Conductor. (Theory II, MTB Technical II, MTB Practical II)

A minimum of 6 candidates must be registered to proceed with the course. Registration will be capped at a maximum of 12 candidates.

Registration Procedure: Interested candidates are asked to please fill out the attached application form and return to the CCA along with your registration fee. Registration fee: $150.00 Registration deadline is Friday April 5th. Candidates will receive confirmation on Monday April 8th.

Course Schedule:

Thursday & Friday - How to teach MTB Technical I
Saturday & Sunday - Practical: Teaching new coaches

Sessions will run from 9h00 to approximately 17h00 each day. The in-class component will be held in the Boardroom, next to the front reception of the visitors centre.

NOTE: The Alberta Bicycle Association will host a NCCP MTB Technical level I course on April 27th & 28th. Course conductor candidates will be required to teach specific chapters of the level I course to fulfill their practical evaluation component.

Travel and Accommodation: Candidates are responsible to make their own arrangements for travel, accommodation and meals. Affordable rooms have been reserved at Canada Olympic Park under a booking file for CCA & ABA. (Two per room. First come first served basis. Bedding and towels are provided). Other Considerations: All candidates must come prepared to ride. Temperatures and weather conditions can fluctuate within hours, so please select clothing accordingly. Candidates must provide their own bicycle.

NOTE: Bicycles are not permitted in the rooms, however, arrangements have been made to access a basement storage space. Bike owners are encouraged to bring locks as a security precaution.


2002 Adrenalin Event Staff Needed!

Trilife Sports International is an event marketing/promotion company that executes the 24 Hours of Adrenalin mountain bike series across North America. We are looking for some dedicated, hard working team players to take on various roles within our 2002 event season.

Mountain Bike Trail Crew (2 positions)

People describe you as having strong leadership skills, great communication skills, attention to detail, Mountain Bike Race event savvy, quick learner, an ability to follow instruction, motivated, and display a willingness to get the job done, no matter what it takes.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

• The TRAIL CREW will be responsible for setting up and taking down all aspects of the racecourse at each event. This includes banners, tape, signage, aid stations etc. You will report to the Event Director.
• The TRAIL CREW will help in the execution of the event, which includes coordinating volunteers, maintaining the course, assisting media efforts on the course, and doing what it takes to ensure a successful event.
• Consulting with local mountain biking contacts, it will be up to you to make recommendations and suggestions as to the race course routes.
• You will help out, as required, in other aspects of set up and take down of the event staging area.
• As the TRAIL CREW, you will be jointly responsible for driving one of the Trilife trucks and trailers (along with one other driver) around to all the events across Canada and the USA. 
• Extensive travel will be required! You have to be prepared to be away for weeks at a time from May until October. Trilife will cover all travel costs. 
• This is a contract position that starts in April and runs through until October 30th.
