June 15 & 16 Pre-riding - Please Don't!

Due to a nasty weather forecast this weekend we would STRONGLY suggest staying off the race course until better weather comes (next week's forecast looks much better). The Albion Hills Tuesday Night Race will pre-ride the race course and it will likely be in better condition.

a) The course rides differently in the wet, quite slick in places, and if bad weather continues the course will change and be made easier for the event.

b) Responsible mountain bikers don't ride off-road in wet weather as trail impact is very high (races run in any conditions but we minimize course damage by running more of the course on double track).

c) We want the course to be fantastic and by staying off the trails we save them for the event and the future of Albion Hills.

Campsite info is now available at www.chicoracing.com

Thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing many of you at next weekend's event.

Navigators Report

Following the solid results of last week's First Union series, which included a victory by Mark Walters in Philadelphia, the Navigators Cycling Team has taken control of the 2002 Pro Cycling Tour (PCT). Mark has a commanding lead of 80 points, followed by Navigators' Oleg Grichkine in 2nd place with 63 points, after three events of the six race competition. David Clinger (US Postal) holds 3rd place with 60 points.

Note: Mark Walters continues to lead the vote on Velonews.com, but Tyler Hamilton is creeping up. Cast your vote for the Canadian champion (you can do it once every 24 hours).

Demet-Barry Joins T-Mobile

COLORADO SPRINGS (June 14, 2002) - USA Cycling announced Friday that Dede Demet-Barry has signed a multi-year agreement with Team T-Mobile and will start riding with the squad immediately.

Dede Demet-Barry has recently resurfaced on the cycling scene in a big way with some very impressive performances, including a victory in the Montreal World Cup, June 1. The 29 year-old Boulder, CO resident also placed second at the Le Tour du Grand Montreal and most recently took third in the First Union Liberty Classic in Philadelphia.

"This is a great program and a huge opportunity for US women," remarked Demet-Barry. " It is really cool that developing riders are getting the chance to ride the big races and gain the international experience they need to become competitive on a world-class level."

Demet-Barry is a seven-time National Champion (road race, time trial, criterium), former Junior World Champion (road race) and has won a silver and bronze medal at the Elite World Championships (team time trial). Her first race with Team T-Mobile will be at the U.S. Elite National Championships in Nashville, TN followed by the Tour de France Feminine.

"The team has a good mix and balance of established stars and up and coming talent," added Demet Barry. "It is awesome that a sponsor like T-Mobile recognizes the potential in women's cycling and supports a team and program like this."
