The Tour de Moody Cycling Classic June 22nd/23rd

Lactic Acid Racing, the organizer of the June 22nd/23rd Tour de Moody, (located in the cities of Burnaby and Port Moody), would like to reassure all racers that this weekends race will be going on as scheduled. Online registration has continued to be up and has accepted registrations through the rumours.

The problem was an article was written by a local newspaper that stated (based on council's minutes) that only one stage had been approved. This was not the case however, as the Organizers and City Hall just needed extra time to reroute and approve the other stages of the race. Both, the City of Burnaby and the City of Port Moody, have been committed to the running of the Tour de Moody Cycling Classic since its inception.

Therefore...!..on behalf of Lactic Acid Racing, we would like to invite all racers to the inaugural Tour de Moody Cycling Classic on June 22nd/23rd. Online registration, course routes, stages etc..can be found online at www.karelo.com For more information contact Jeff Tvergyak at tourdemoody@hotmail.com

Ottawa Bike Race Weekend July 13-14, 2002

On Saturday July 13 the Ottawa Bicycle Club presents the 5th Annual Ottawa Bicycle Club Grand Prix Road Race in Gatineau Park, Quebec

Races for all categories
Total Prize list: over $4500

This will be the biggest bicycle road race in Canada this year!

This July show your strength and endurance! Race the largest, most difficult cycling road race in Canada this year!

Join more than 700 racers from Canada and the United States in this year's Ottawa Bicycle Club Grand Prix, a sanctioned Ontario O-Cup series race and a Quebec Veteran's Association Super Prestige event.

Expect this to be the most challenging one-day race in Canada this year!
The race course meanders through beautiful forest-lined roads and features several long, steep hills that will test the strength of every cyclist. Only the truly strongest rider will win!

The Venue
The Gatineau Parkway is a 21 km loop with an excellent road surface. The loop will be closed to motor traffic for the event. Since 1971, at least 3 national road championships have been held on this circuit. Independent observers have described it as having the best road scenery of any place to ride in Canada. Some very experienced riders call this the most difficult bike race course in North America.

The Participants
The Men’s Sen. 1-2 race will be the highlight of the day with a prize list of $2400, but racers in all categories are encouraged to enter.
The categories include:
• Men's: Senior 1-2, 3-4; Master 30+, 40+, 50+, 60+; Junior; Cadet; Novice
• Women's: Senior, Master, Junior, Cadet and Novice
• New this year: Tandem racing!
• In-line skate

Fee: $10 to $30 (depending on category)

Perks
All races will be monitored using fully automated computer timing chips and state-of-the art photo finish to ensure fast, accurate results, including lap times.
Registration and race headquarters at Camp Fortune.
Prizes will be distributed immediately following the races, and a banquet at Camp Fortune ends the race day. The banquet will begin shortly after the finish of the first races and tickets can be purchased for $ 15 - all are welcome.

On-line registration and more information at:
Website
or contact the Ottawa Bicycle Club Office at obc@cmw.ca or (613) 230 1064

NOTE: It is highly suggested to register in advance of the day of the race - with the large number of riders and the computerized timing, we cannot guarantee that you will make your start if you try to register on the morning of the race. To encourage you to register early, there is a $10 late fee for entries filed after July 1st.

On Sunday July 14, Bike Race Ottawa presents the Capital City Criterium in Ottawa, Ontario

Total Prize list = $3500

After testing your strength on the hills of Gatineau Park, return to the flat land and tight corners of Criterium racing.

Join Bike Race Ottawa for the Capital City Criterium, the first time this race has been organized in conjunction with the Ottawa Bicycle Club Grand Prix. This criterium promises to add a second exciting day of bicycle racing to the Nation’s Capital.

The course is a 1.15 km circuit with 8 corners in and around the Tunney’s Pasture complex in central Ottawa, a great location for racers and spectators alike. Racers will be able to warm up on the Ottawa River Parkway, closed for the normal Alcatel Sunday Bike Day. This is also a great place for families and friends of racers to spend some time while they are waiting for their racers to show their stuff!

Racing starts at 8:00 am and continues until early afternoon. First prize in the Senior 1-2 race is $500!

The Participants
The Men’s Sen. 1-2 race will be the highlight of the day, but racers in all categories are encouraged to enter. One day licences are available.
