We just received this notice - applications close April 19th (Sunday!).

The Greater Victoria Velodrome Association is seeking a velodrome coordinator to assist the board with operations at the Juan de Fuca Velodrome. The GVVA is offering an Honoraria of $1000 per month for this volunteer position. Funding is in place now for the first month (April 20 to May 20), and will be confirmed for the remainder of the cycling season shortly.

The Board is eager to ensure both continuing programs from previous years (track league, weekend events, and facility monitors courses) and new programs (Learn to Ride the Track, School programs, and others) are delivered, and the Association meets it goals to build the number of riders, especially novice track riders, on the velodrome.

The coordinator will work with Juan de Fuca Recreation staff, the board members and CCSD Assistant National Coach/Regional Coach Steve Lund. The number of hours per week will vary depending on the week, and stage of a program. It is expected the time commitment will drop as programs have run for a few sessions. Programs have been designed and will be promoted throughout Victoria.

Candidates should be familiar with the operations of a velodrome, including safety practices, working with volunteers, and have good communication skills. Applications should be faxed to the acting president of the GVVA - Tom Ward - at phone/fax (250) 743-4417 by Sunday April 19th.
