Jeanson To Miss Commonwealth Games

Geneviève Jeanson will not be attending this year's Commomwealth Games in Manchester England. The leader of Team RONA has tendonitis behind her left knee. Jeanson experienced pain during the finalt stage of the Hewlett Packard Women‚s Challenge, on June 23. The pain then subsided but reappeared during the Fitchburg Longsjo Bicycle Classic the following week.

„I am extremely disappointed by this turn of events‰ said Jeanson. „This injury happens at the worst of times, because the Commonwealth Games were one of my objectives for this season. I will now treat my injury as best I can and hope to be competitive for the Canadian Championships.‰ The Canadian Road Nationals will be held August 8-11 in Oxford County, near London, Ontario.

The above is from an official statement issued by Team RONA

Sue Palmer is alternate, and the CCA is awaiting confirmation that she will be able to attend the Games.

The rumour is that Jeanson's tendonitis is more a case of burnout and overtraining. She was displaying classic symptoms of both at the end of the HP.
