Wind-Del Track Update (courtesy Val Davidge)
Last evening there was a meeting at the Wind-Del Community Park in Windham Centre (Delhi).
Present were the Park Committee, representatives of the local cycling community, Keith Davidge representing the OCA's interests and the successful contractor.
The final plans for the refurbishment of the Track were made and all is now set for work to commence on May 4th.
Work will take about a week to complete and the track will be closed during this time. If there are any changes to the schedule, these will be sent to Canadian Cyclist, for the benefit of riders wishing to train.
This work is a big step up for track enthusiasts in Ontario. It is impossible to make a silk purse out of sow's ear and a full resurfacing is not possible for both financial and technical reasons. However, the proposed refurbishment will be a significant improvement to the track surface.
The first Track League is set for May 23rd. Look for updates.
Mississauga Mid-Week Series
This Wednesday's event event, a 40 kilometer criterium on the popular 2.2km circuit, will start at 6.45pm to enable the workers to finish their supper before they come out and lose it during the race. No handicap this week - everyone starts together.
