Lampre Team Arrested & Released

The entire 20 member Lampre team (riders and staff) was arrested on Sunday just after the finish of the Paris Tours World Cup. The reason? Questioning regarding the arrest and ongoing investigation of Edita Rumsas, the wife of Lampre cyclist Raimondas Rumsas. Edita Rumsas has been in custody in France since July 30 (just after the Tour de France) when she was to have a number of illegal product in her possession.

After questioning for 6 hours this morning by a judge, they were all (except Edita Rumsas) subsequently released. The team has now blasted the operation as a witch hunt to appease the media.

Edita Rumsas will be questioned tomorrow by an investigative magistrate.
