Draper Takes the Stage at 24 Hours of Adrenalin in Canmore, Alberta

The Canmore Nordic Centre was the heart of the action this weekend for the 7th annual 24 Hours of Adrenalin* presented by Jeep race, the 2nd largest of the twelve North American series events. Having sold out weeks ago, the spirit of mountain biking in Alberta was clearly evident.

Returning champion and local rider, Ryan Draper (Giant/Rebound Cylce), relentlessly led the solo field. "I was pushed relentlessly by Zidek ˆ The Bike Shop - (Draper's main rival, also a Canmore local). He pushed me really hard, but around 4 or 5 o1clock, I heard he was out of the race." Draper held the lead and finished with 19 laps in 23:23:53, covering 313 kms. Exhausted and emotionally drained, Draper claimed "It's not just physical, it's really, really about mental attitude." Taking the Female Solo lead was Monica Nelson (Gerick Cycle/Specialized Bicycles), from Kelowna, who covered 15 laps in 23:27:17. Nelson placed 5th overall (men & women) covering 247 kms.

"The energy-vibe is incredible, here in Alberta," says Aaron McConnell, Regional Event Director for Trilife Sports International. "Overall, it1s been an incredible weekend and we1re looking forward to returning in 2003. A special thanks goes to our presenting sponsor, Jeep ˆ their products and on-site Jeep Experience activity tent add a positive new dimension to the event" added McConnell.
