The 2002 SISU BC Cup schedule, coupled with the introduction of BC's first ever Cycling SuperWeek, which brought North America's finest cyclists to the province, was key to having a banner road racing year. Building on this success, the 2003 season is set to be equally, if not more exciting, then ever before.

Launching the SISU BC Cup Series in early Spring from the Lower Mainland, the Road Racing Championship travels across the province, from Vancouver Island's scenic west coast across to the rugged Kootenays.

Garneau Sponsors Canadian Ski Team

Québec City (November 21, 2002) - A new five-year, $150,000 partnership with Quebec sporting goods company Louis Garneau is the latest building block for Canada's return to the podium, Alpine Canada Alpin president Ken Read announced today.

Louis Garneau will be the official technical underwear supplier, and supplier of spin bikes for the Canadian Alpine Ski Team beginning this season. Louis Garneau is supplying all national team athletes with alpine ski technical underwear to suit all training and racing conditions. Louis Garneau is also developing a Special Edition Alpine Canada Alpin technical underwear that will be sold in retail outlets beginning next August.

"Our athletes must be well prepared to face the elements when they train and race, and quality underwear that keeps them warm and dry is an important part of their success," said Ken Read. "Momentum is building as we put the pieces in place to give our athletes the human, financial and technical resources they need to be World Champions."

"Breaking new ground with our products is a constant aim. We are glad to sponsor the best athletes in the world such as the Saturn Cycling Team, the Canadian National Cycling Team, Triathlete Spencer Smith and now Alpine Canada. We are thrilled to give all of them the best products they can get. Our goal is to help the Canadian Alpine Ski Team achieve international success," said Louis Garneau.

Louis Garneau's domain has expanded to include the production of bikes and fitness equipment. With the aid of exercise bikes from Louis Garneau, Canada's elite-level athletes will be better able to keep fit and maintain their strict exercise regimens while on the road. Louis Garneau will also be supplying the Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup fitness gym with spin-bikes.

Alpine Canada Alpin is the governing body for ski racing in Canada with 27,000 members across the country including the elite racers of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team and the Canadian Disabled Alpine Ski Team. The organization recently launched Podium 2010, a strategic plan to again make Canada a world dominant alpine racing country.

Happy Birthday To...

Eron Chorney, today.
