Bonham & Co. Ontario MTB Cup #5 Dagmar, Ontario - August 25

It was a great day of racing, and as most riders agreed, this was one of the most challenging Ontario courses yet this season. With several steep climbs, fast tight singletrack, 'farmer' rock piles, and a rocky ravine descent this course had something for everyone.

Julian Hine of Gears Racing.com cruised to victory in the men's pro race followed by one of Ontario's future cycling stars, Mike Garrigan of Team Hardwood Hills. Josh Hall may have been a recent stranger to mountain bike racing with his commitments to the Sympatico.ca:Jet Fuel Coffee road racing team, but his form on the mountain bike wasn't lost with a third place finish.

The women's pro race was more hotly contested as Gears Racing.com's Sue Trimble took an early lead putting more and more time on the field for her first three laps. Sue faded on the last lap, as Bay Cycle's Lisa Holmgren steamed by to take the victory. Very consistent lap times, and a great family gene pool, put another Gears woman on the podium with Danelle Kabush in third.

Other champions of the day included Martin Lazarski of Gears Racing.com taking the junior expert division, former Norwegian Mountain Bike National Team rider Stig Somme winning the veteran expert men's division by over 5 minutes, and Catherine Vipond of Bay Cycle Racing taking victory in the junior expert women's division.

Thanks to all who supported the event and we will see you at the Bonham & Co. Ontario Cup #6, Provincial Championships in two weeks!
