Green Named Male Athlete of the Year

Roland Green was honoured for the 2nd consecutive year with the title of male athlete-of-the-year at the 30th annual Canadian Sports Awards last night. Catriona Le May Doan was named female athlete-of-the-year.

Simon Ibell of Victoria, an advocate for people with disabilities, won for the Spirit of Sport story of the year. Ibell completed a 10-day, 300-kilometre bike ride the length of Vancouver Island to raise awareness for muchopolysacharridosis - MPS - a rare genetic condition he has.

CBC will air the awards ceremony tonight at 7pm local time zones.
