We Are Back

We have been down all morning (as you probably noticed). Our service provider, further up the internet chain, had a power blackout which has, hopefully, been solved.

Barry Wins in France (courtesy Michael J Barry)

Michael Barry won the second stage of the Tour du Chablais in the French Alps today (Sunday). He finishing ninth in Saturday's stage, twenty seconds behind the winner. The major climb today was the Col de Corbier and here the field split, with Barry cresting the summit in a group of abour twenty which was thirty seconds down on a break of three. On the descent Barry and three others broke away from the group and caught the leaders. This group of five was then joined by two more and the seven contested the final sprint in Evian. Although he had the same overall time in the two stage event as the second placed rider, Barry was placed fourth on GC based on points.

Big Bear XC (courtesy Trish Sinclair - Team Kona)

Well the snow wasn't so bad,the course was actually fast with only one small running section. Golden Brainard won the women's race despite a few crashes on the downhill. Tammy Jaques was second, she said she was a bit tired after her Euro trip. I (Trish Sinclair) thought that I was fourteenth, only to be surprised to see that the posted results had me in eleventh (unfortunately for Trish, the official results (below) pushed her back to 14th). I am pretty happy as I had lots of difficulty with my breathing (not to mention the four girls that passed me on the last descent, need to brush up my downhill technique!).

Onto the men's race.Started really fast with over a hundred starters.First lap there was a group of eight that had gapped the field starting with Carl Swenson, Dave Weins, Peter Swenson, Kirk Molday, and including Roland Green. Second lap things started to spread out with Swenson and Weins taking a commanding lead. The race ended with Carl Swenson first followed (in order) by Dave Weins, Greg Randolph, Kirk Molday and Peter Swenson in 5th. Chris Sheppard finished 8th, Roland Green 14th and Seamus McGrath 15th (Seamus had a flat tire at the end of the last lap).

Sorry I am not so accurate with all the results, but the air is really thin up here!
