Report From Radio Energie (courtesy Josie Robitaille)

Last night in Providence, Rhode Island, Team Radio Energie took part in the third crit. of the Atlantic Cup. The course was flat and kind of fast, considering the wind. It was mostly a pack race, sometimes some guys tried to break away but it didn't quite work - except at the end with about 6 or 7 laps to go, 6 guys got away, including Mark McCormark (Saturn) and Peter Wedge (Radio Energie). With 2 laps to go, when the field got too close, McCormack decide to attack and go for a solo break, Peter Wedge thought that it was a good move so he did the same, and start his pursuit of the Saturn guy, with the twin cam engine! Mark McCormark finally won with about 7 sec. in front of the pack, then Peter Wedge was caught about 5 feet from the line by Yannick Cojan who came in 2nd, a couple of inches in front of Charles Dionne (Radio Energie),and Peter Wedge finished in 4rth place. After 3 races, and 2 to go, the points G.C is really tight: Kevin Monahan is first with 55pts, Ken Dille is 2nd with 54 and Charles Dionne is in 3rd place also with 54. Joe Guilliano of Jet Fuel is 4th with 53pts and Peter Wedge 5th with 53pts.etc..(it's a top 20 G.C). Tomorrow there is a race in Quincy and then the final in Hartford CT. Monday it's Somerville and then Team Radio Energie will be back to race in Canada, and will take part of the Toyota Queen's Park Grand Prix. By the way, it's going be Michael Barry‚s first race with the Radio Energie squad, his new team for the 1998 North American season!
