Mens Sprint

It is once again a gorgeous day here in Victoria, as we start the second day of the Victoria World Cup track meet. So far we have had the 1/4 Finals of the mens Match Sprint. The three top riders - Marty Nothstein USA, Jens Fiedler GER and Frederic Magne FRA - got through in two straight rides, as expected. Magne was the only one with some excitement, as his countryman Jean Giletto pushed him pretty hard both tactically and speedwise. The second ride was particularly interesting, as Giletto forced Magne into a trackstand, and then abruptly dropped down the banking for a long lap and a half flyer. Magne turned on the afterburners though, and came through in the final turn. The fourth heat was won by German rider Jan Van Eijden. The men go again this evening with Nothstein up against Van Eijden and Fiedler facing Magne.

Right now, the women are doing their 3000M Individual Pursuit qualifying, followed by the Team Pursuit qualifying.
