September 4/03 4:15 am - A little trip to Italy

With Thursday being basically a "day off" in Lugano, Rob and Frank had some time on their hands. So what do you do when there's time to play tourist and you are close to the Italian border? Go to church. (At least that is what you tell the wife).

On the top of a "smaller" climb outside the town of Bellagio, overlooking Lake Como is the Madonna del Ghisallo, known more than 50 years as the cyclists' chapel.

The walls are lined with bikes, jerseys, plaques, photos, and other cycling memorabilia from some of the world's most famous cyclists.

A museum is under construction for, as you can see, the little chapel if full to the rafters, and it is hard to display the many, many items that have been donated.
