Travis V Price Classic and Brockville Cyclocross

September 20-21 in Brockville, Ontario.

The weekend is a family-oriented bike race made up of two separately run but associated events, the Travis V. Price Classic September 20 and the Brockville Cyclocross September 21.

The Travis V. Price Classic is an OCA-sanctioned bike race organized by the Brockville Cycling Club. It is comprised of a 14-kilometre time trial and three 60 plus 5 lap criterium races. Time trials are open to under 17 to Elite 1 for men and women and begin at 8 a.m. running till noon. Criterium races are open to Junior to Elite 1 and run from 1-5:30 p.m. We are offering a total of $3,500 in prize money for the Travis Price event.

The 14 kilometre time trial course runs from King Street (County Road 2) at Phillips Cables, (at the city‚s western border,) seven kilometres to Long Beach and back. We will have police at the start, turnaround point, and finish line, plus an OPP motorcycle cop patrolling the course during the time trial races to ensure our riders safety.
The criterium races will take place on a 1.4- kilometre closed course in the city‚s industrial park bordered by Waltham Road, Crocker Crescent and Broome Road.
To ensure accuracy in our event, we have hired Ottawa-based race service SportStats to conduct timing of our event with the ChampionChip timing system.

REGISTRATION:
Registraton sessions will be held the week before the race September 18 and 19 from 7-9 p.m. at the Brockville Recorder and Times, 1600 California Avenue.
We are also offering for your convenience Internet registration at www.eventsonline.ca. We would prefer as many racers as possible register online so that we can plan ahead. ONLINE REGISTRANTS MUST SIGN AN OCA WAIVER BEFORE TAKING TO THE COURSE.
Registration will take place race day, September 20 starting at 6:30 a.m. at the parking lot of Phillips Cables (the start of the time trial course.)

OTHER INFO ABOUT PRICE CLASSIC
For the $45 entry fee, racers get a time trial, a criterium race, as well as a ticket to an awards dinner/dance featuring a live band. We are also offering racers a set of Mavic Ksyrium SSC CL wheels which will be drawn during the dinner dance , a prize donated by T.I. Cycle of Gananoque. Racers must attend the awards banquet/dinner to qualify for the draw.

NOTE: Additional OCA fees such as a one-day race permit, and the OCA race surcharge may apply.

We also have several associated events planned for racers families during the day, including a bike-a-thon from roughly 8 a.m.-11 a.m. at the crit course, plus a family breakfast from 7:30-10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Park, and a kids bike rodeo, also at the park. A bike rodeo is an event run for younger children on a closed course by Brockville city police to teach about bike safety.

CYCLOCROSS RACE

The Brockville Cyclocross Race is a separately run but associated event organized by the Ottawa Bicycle Club and consists of a cyclocross race at Laurier Park in Brockville. This is a fun race with no prize money and is part of the Eastern Ontario Cyclocross Series. It begins at 10 a.m. Cost to participate is $10.

Organizers of both races are working together to co-ordinate their events on the same weekend so we can offer our cyclists two full days of cycling.

We are also hoping to extend the competitive cycling season into the fall, believing that there is still lots of great cycling weather for competitors to take advantage of.

These are the hotels that are centrally located, about a five minute
drive away from both time trial and criterium races. They are
also some of the nicest in town. All are very well run with clean rooms.
I personally would suggest the Days Inn.
