When an organizer plans an event with "winter" in the title one should expect something resembling winter. Instead, we had double digit temperatures and near perfect trail conditions. With such great weather a record turnout of over 100 racers and another 50 tourists made the trek to the Mansfield Outdoor Centre for the return of the Winter W.O.W. Enduro & Tour on November 23rd.

With conditions so good some very fast times were turned in. The fastest time of the day belonged to local Mansfield racer Peter Glassford (Skiis & Biikes) who covered the 41 km in 1:57:23, followed a little later by Andrew Erb. Putting the big hurt on the multi-geared bikes was Spencer Silveira who was an amazing 3rd overall (2:10:09) racing on his single speed. The fastest woman of the day was Corrie Parton with a fine time of 2:41:46.

Many thanks to GT Bicycles and Skiis & Biikes for the generous prizes. Corey Bernardo, who came all the way from Rochester N.Y., was the lucky draw prize winner of the GT Avalanche 1.0 frame. Many thanks also to KHS Canada for the very welcome Hammer Gel at the feed station. Thanks also to all of our volunteers and to the staff at the Mansfield Outdoor Centre for making things tick so well. Thanks also to the Dufferin County Forest for allowing us to use their trails.

Complete Enduro results, and event photos, are now posted at www.wowmtb.com. Make sure to pencil in Sunday November 21, 2004 for next edition of the Winter W.O.W. The same route will be used and we'll add even more features to make this a truly great mountain biking day.

Other W.O.W. News - The Pine River Ramble Enduro & Tour will be back in 2004. It will use much of the route of the Winter W.O.W., plus some additional huge climbs west of Airport Road to make a long, tough ride. Visit the W.O.W. web site in the next couple of weeks to find out the date of this unique event.

The 5th Annual Life$tyle$ of the Rich & Famou$ 24 Hour Race is taking place on May 22/23, 2004. Team spots are already sold out and we are now taking names for a waiting list in case someone has to cancel out. In addition, there are only 5 solo spots remaining so if you want one of them then contact W.O.W. soon. Unlike other 24 Hour races that treat you like cattle the Life$tyle$ 24 Hour has a field limit of only 125 people who all get a roof over their heads and 4 wonderful meals included with registration. In other words, you get treated like you're Rich and Famous! More info available at www.wowmtb.com.
