Spanish climbing specialist Jose-Maria Jimenez has died of a suspected heart attack, according to Spanish sources. Jimenez was only 32 years old, but had been suffering from severe depression, for which he had been hospitalized.
As a member of the Banesto team, he won 9 Vuelta stages and 3 Climber's Jerseys. His best finish at the Tour de France was 8th overall in 1997. He retired in 2002.
