Gears Racing Announces Road Bicycle Racing Team For 2004

Toronto, Canada, February 2nd, 2004: Mr. Mark S. Bonham, Chairman, and Mr. Kevin Wallace, President, of the Gears Racing Institute ("GRI") are very pleased to announce the Gears Racing Road Bicycle Racing Team for the 2004.

Joining the 2004 team will be 2003 Ontario Provincial Junior Road Race Champion and 2003 World Championship participant Brandon Crichton, 2003 Ontario Provincial Junior Cyclo-Cross Champion Tyler Holtzman, 2002 Canadian National Junior Road Race Champion Mark Pozniak, and Nathan Chown.

Returning to the team in 2004 will be Warren Tilbrook, Dan Lefebvre and Michael Moore. Michael Moore and Dan Lefebvre, as senior members of the team, will be providing positive team leadership and instituting a mentoring process to the Espoir racers.

Alongside these athletes will be the tandem duo of Craig deVeer and Richard Marsolais. They are looking to build on their success in 2003 as they work toward inclusion in the Canadian National Team for the Paralympics to be held in Athens, Greece in 2004.

"We are very excited about the Gears Road Team in 2004", stated Kevin Wallace. "It is our belief that focusing on the talents of select Espoir racers by matching them with seasoned and experienced riders like Dan Lefebvre and Michael Moore will be a positive step in the development of these espoirs, a step in the direction of becoming some of Canada's best road athletes." As part of the development program, team members participate in a training camp held in the spring in Phoenix, Arizona as well as several team-specific training events.

Gears Racing is proud to be sponsored by Shimano Canada, Specialized Bicycles, Sugoi, RockShox, Michelin Tires, Stoney Ridge Estate Winery, and Bonham & Co. Inc.

The Gears Racing Road Team will be competing in events provincially and nationally within Canada, as well as select US and international events.

Gears will continue its support of the Mississauga Bicycle Racing Club, whose primary focus is competitive amateur road racing.

The Gears Racing Institute is a specialist, non-profit foundation created to identify and develop world-class competitive mountain bikers for Canada. For more information on the team, visit www.gearsracing.com.
