This week watch the men take on the rugged terrain of Riggins, Idaho in the rigorous Downhill Mountain Bike Competition. Not to be outdone, the women battle raging waters in the challenging Swim & Kayak Course. (On Friday, you can watch the Lumberjack World Championships - „He‚s a lumberjack, and he‚s okay...‰)

We tried a new format for this week's novice criterium. Instead of an individual race , the 18 starters were grouped into three teams, each lead by one of our Wednesday regulars. Amy Jarvis, our new women's provincial champion, Craig Deveer and Ben Ayson, all from the Mississauga Bicycle Club showed up and offered to help with someinformal coaching and what a job they did. For the first time, the majority of the riders stayed together in a well-disciplined, tight group. The idea was to get your top three team members over the line before the others.

Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely and the format will be repeated whenever we have volunteers to ride with the teams. Thanks to our elite riders for sharing their experience with the newcomers. Thanks also to Robby from The Bike Depot, a new retail outlet on Campion Rd., Etobicoke for donating a bunch of feeding bottles for draw prizes.

ALL NOVICE RIDERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ENTER THE CITIZENS' RACE AT CHIN PICNIC. START TIME IS 11AM ON WEDNESDAY.
