Vancouver Island XC Race Series #2 , Down n' Dirty at the Dump

The Vancouver Island XC Race Series #2 , Down n' Dirty at the Dump, was held under near summer like conditions at Hartland Mountainbike Park, April 25th in Victoria. The Schwalbe CC of Victoria is to be congratulated for producing this first class event. Although conflicting events such as The Garden City 10k race and a Sea to Ski race held in Courtney were also ran on Sunday, we managed to register 120 racers.

Racers were treated with perfect conditions, slick and timely race organization, terrific après-race food, an "old school" bike toss competition and wonderful raffle prizes. Nearly everyone went home with a prize.

Cross country riding is alive and well out here on the Westcoast and we are seeing an increase again in XC popularity. The Vancouver Island XC Race Series has grown to eight events. We keep the emphasis on fun, affordability ($10.00 dollars) and simplicity. The Schwalbe CC of Victoria thanks all volunteers, spectators and competitors who helped make this race special.
