Tim Horton‚s Road Nationals, Kamloops BC June 24-27.

A message from Cycling BC‚s Road & Track Vice-President, David Schneider

A number of you are planning to race in the upcoming Tim Hortons' Road Nationals which will be hosted by the City of Kamloops. The dates are June 24th through 27th.

For those that aren't racing, many should consider going up to watch. The City of Kamloops has made a fantastic effort to help put on this event, and by all accounts, the planning is going very well. Allan Prazsky from Cycling BC has just returned from two days helping with details, meeting the event organizer (and Cycling BC board member) Henry Pejril and other movers and shakers including the Kamloops Mayor, the Council and city engineers. Allan was very excited and positive about the event when I spoke to him upon his return.

The registration and scheduling details of the various races can be found at:

Also, there is a bid in place for Kamloops to host nationals again next year (2005). If everything goes well, including strong athlete and fan support for the event, we may be fortunate enough to keep nationals in BC for another year. Securing the event again in 2005 would be great for continuing to develop the sport of road cycling in BC at all levels.

As Cycling BC members, you are all important ambassadors for the sport. Your strong support of high profile events like road nationals will encourage more communities and sponsors to become involved in the sport of cycling.

So, please think about going up for a day or more, racing or not, and bring some friends along for a short enjoyable vacation.

Finally, a big thank you to Henry and his crew up there who are all working flat out to make this nationals a great success!
