Snowmass, Colo. (August 6, 2004) - The seventh stop on the NORBA circuit got underway today in Snowmass Village, just 10 miles west of Aspen, Colo.

Pro action on the agenda this afternoon was the mountain cross qualifier. Jill Kintner (Murrieta, Calif.) continued her dominance of the women's mountain cross scene, earning the first seed for tomorrow's finals. Melissa Buhl (Chandler, Ariz.), Tara Llanes (Los Alamitos, Calif.), Leana Gerrard (Sumner, Wash.), and Michelle Dumaresq (CAN) were the next fastest qualifiers.

In the men's qualifier, Mike King (San Diego, Calif.) took the top spot this weekend, followed by Eric Carter (Temecula, Calif.), Jared Graves (AUS), Rich Houseman (Pasadena, Calif.), and Brian Lopes (Murrieta, Calif.).

The Finals will be contested on Saturday, along with the cross-country.

Sugoi Dirt Series gets Airtime

As the Sugoi Dirt Series' fourth year rolls toward its finish, it's already obvious that this will be the single most successful season of women's mountain bike instructional camps ever held. Already, over 300 women have participated in the nine sold-out camps held in 2004, and that total should reach close to 500 before season's end.

In its four years of operation, the Sugoi Dirt Series has refined its program to offer the best mountain bike instruction anywhere. Their expert technical mountain bike instruction can help riders of all abilities learn new skills, polish existing ones, and add confidence across the board. The two-day weekend camps combine morning technical sessions with group rides in the afternoon where the skills can be reinforced in real-world situations.

With four camps left, there's still plenty of fun to be had before the season draws to a close. In particular, the return to Mike Wiegele's world-famous heli-skiing resort in Blue River, British Columbia should be a weekend to remember.

Wiegele's features accommodation that runs the gamut from ultra-plush lodge accommodations to fully serviced campsites, all of which are offered at unbelievable camp-specific prices. The weekend will also offer heli-drops into remote and pristine singletrack. What's more, campers get the chance to get the big heli-air at a super discounted rate of $150 (Canadian) per rider.

Campers who wish to take advantage of the heli-drop will have different options for the ride back depending upon skill and fitness level, while campers who keep their feet on the ground can choose from tons of great trails in the valley. Expert instruction and epic singletrack ... needless to say, this should be an amazing weekend on all fronts!

The Sugoi Dirt Series will wrap up the year with their second annual co-ed Reunion Camp and Weekend in Whistler, September 18-19. Last year, over sixty campers, both new and returning, turned up for an amazing weekend of riding. Expect even better things this year with an expanded Whistler Bike Park, full service host shop, new Valley trails, and additional sponsorship from Sleeman Breweries and Nesters Grocery.

For more information on registering for the camps, visit www.dirtseries.com, email info@dirtseries.com, or call 604-905-8876.
