Midweek Web Site Up with New Address

The popular Midweek Cycling Club web site has been down for a few days because of a domain reseller refusing to renew our registration. We are now up and running with a new address www.midweekclub.ca

We'll soon have a stack of photographs from the recent Corso Italia Grand Prix.

Thank you to all for your patience.

New Brunswick will be holding it's first ever mountain bike marathon event in Elgin, NB, on Saturday, October 2nd. For those of you who don't now where Elgin is, it is located just outside of Fundy National Park, about 20 minutes north. This area is among the most beautiful parts of New Brunswick I have yet to see, and this will be a great opportunity for people to check it out. This course is going to be great - lots of climbs, double track and single track descents. There is an 80km, 40 km and 20 km option, so everyone can give racing a try!

Elgin is a small community. There are no hotels or restaurants, but there are sugarmaple camps, and camping space. You can book a spot in the sugar maple camp, or bring your tent. Sleeping bags needed either way. The community will be putting on a Pasta super after the race and a breakfast the next morning for all of us who will be visiting Fundy Park the next day for some more epic rides/hikes.

The flyer and registration forms are posted on www.velo.nb.ca. Look on the ride listing for October 2nd.

I hope to see as many of you hard core mountain bikers out as possible. For details contact Karen DeWolfe (506) 455-9672.

BC Cyclo-cross Season Begins

First Race this Sunday, Sept 26 in Fort Langley

The leaves are changing colour, the air is getting crisper... it's that time of year to start training for the 'power hour'. That's right, the cyclocross season in B.C. is fast approaching. The Lower Mainland is host to five excellent races this year to satisfy your taste for mud and sweat.

The season kicks off this Sunday September 26th with Steamer Racing's classic race course in Fort Langley at Aldor Acres. Always a crowd pleaser, the course features a river crossing, a big forest run-up and a technical switchback descent. Once the staple of cyclocross racing in BC, this course is available once again. For info, see www.steamerracing.ca.

The remainder of the cyclo-cross calendar is as follows:

October 3: Bayside Cyclo-cross Race #1 ˆ Crescent Park, Surrey
October 17: Bayside Cyclo-cross Race #2 ˆ Crescent Park, Surrey
October 23: Jericho Cyclo-cross Classic ˆ Jericho Park, Vancouver
October 30: BC Cyclo-cross Championships ˆ Vanier Park, Vancouver
