Symmetrics Cycling has signed three-time Canadian Olympian, Pan Am and Commonwealth Games gold medalist, and eight-time National Champion Eric Wohlberg. Wohlberg originally from Levack, Ontario, is now residing in Sunnyvale, California and will complete Symmetrics' highly competitive 2005 roster.

"Eric Wohlberg is synonymous with the highest standards of performance, dedication, and professionalism," commented Symmetrics Director, Jeremy Storie. After 14 years on the North American professional circuit Wohlberg continues to compete at the top of his sport. Wohlberg represented Canada for the third time at this summer's Olympic Games in Athens, was a stage winner at the 2004 Tour de Langkawi, and overall 2004 champion at New Zealand's Tour of Wellington. Over the past five years Eric has won stages or the general classification in such prestigious international races as the GP de Beauce, Tour of Hokkaido, Tour de Langkawi, Tour of Wellington, Tour of Queensland, and the Herald Sun Tour.

"It has always been my wish to see the re-emergence of strong Canadian cycling teams. Symmetrics has shown that this is certainly their intention. It is with pleasure that I join such a powerful team. We will be a force on both sides of the border" said Wohlberg. Racing with Symmetrics will be a kind of homecoming for Wohlberg, who joined forces in the early 90's with Scott Goguen on his first trade team, Magic Cuts. Since then, Eric has ridden on many of the largest US professional cycling teams and on various Canadian National Team projects that included current Symmetrics riders Andrew Pinfold, Svein Tuft, Cory Lange, Jacob Erker and Cam Evans. "Marsh Cooper, Will Routley, Jeff Sherstobitoff, Brad Fairall, and Christian Meier have all shown a great deal of promise and have bright futures with Symmetrics," commented Wohlberg.

Wohlberg will provide a depth of leadership and guidance to all team members, while maintaining his normal high level of performance. Symmetrics Cycling owner Kevin Cunningham summarized; "The addition of Eric will provide our team with another level of professionalism which our major sponsors including Symmetrics, Westlam and Northern Feather, have come to expect. It is especially great to see Eric riding on a Canadian team, passing on his professionalism and wisdom to some of Canada's best young cyclists."
