CCA Announces Team for World Cyclocross Championships

The Canadian Cycling Association is happy to announce the team for the upcoming world cyclocross championships, which will be held in St-Wendel, Germany, on Jan. 29 and 30.

Six athletes will represent Canada in the junior men‚s, elite men‚s and elite women‚s categories, and the delegation includes all three women‚s medalists, the junior men‚s gold medalist and the elite men‚s bronze medalist from the national championships held in Dieppe, New Brunswick, on Nov. 6, 2004.

Wendy Simms - Elite Women
Peter Morse - Elite Men
Greg Reain - Elite Men

In addition, six people have generously paid their own way to Germany to help support the team. Of particular note is the Giant-Maxxis American team mechanic, Jake Frame, who will be working for the Canadian team in St. Wendel.

The delegation will be led by national development coach Kris Westwood, who participated in five cyclocross world championships as an athlete.

L’Association cycliste canadienne est heureuse d’annoncer l’équipe qui représentera le Canada aux championnats du monde de cyclocross, qui auront lieu le 29 et 30 janvier à St-Wendel en Allemagne.

Six athlètes sont inscrits dans les catégories junior hommes, élite femmes et élite hommes, et la délégation comprend les trois médaillées féminines, le champion junior et le médaillé de bronze des derniers championnats canadiens, tenus à Dieppe, Nouveau Brunswick, le 6 novembre 2004.

De plus, six personnes ont eu la générosité de payer leur propre voyage en Allemagne pour soutenir l’équipe. A noter, le mécanicien américain Jake Frame de l’équipe Giant-Maxxis, travaillera pour le Canada à St-Wendel.

La délégation sera gérée par l’entraîneur national de développement, Kris Westwood, qui a participé à çinq reprises aux championnats du monde de cyclocross à titre d’athlète.
