Westside Cycling Classic Update

The Westside Cycling Classic takes place in Vancouver on June 19th.

Wedgewood Cycling Team are pleased to announced Navigators Insurance as the lead sponsor of the Westside Cycling Classic supported by AON Reed Stenhouse and Point Grey Village Business Association, with prizes for the King & Queen of the Mountains offered by Point Grey Chiropractic & La Bicicletta .

"Navigators Insurance have been very supportive of our fundraising efforts for the BC Cancer Foundation which fits well into the company profile and will also give Vancouver resident and Navigators Pro Cycling Team member Kirk O'Bee the extra incentive to win!" explains Jonathan Wornell, Event Director for the race.

Wornell also adds he is especially pleased by the announcement of a $500 cash sponsorship of the Cat 4 women's race, "This is exactly the type of support that will encourage new racers to the sport to try out racing" he said after hearing of the donation by local beauty salon Black to Blond.

Organizers are expecting more than 5000 spectators to line this new course which will take in Point Grey Village, The University of British Colombia and the beaches of Spanish Banks on a circuit that is designed to enable several viewing opportunities on each lap.

The Point Grey Fiesta www.pointgreyfiesta.org will last all weekend with fun & activities for all the family including a funfair in Trimble Park.

The main event racers will be set off on their way by Vancouver Mayor Larry Campbell at approx 10.30am with funds raised from all races going to support of the BC Cancer Foundation.

Wedgewood Cycling Team is pleased to announce that riders with a USCF domestic licence will be welcome to ride the Westside Cycling Classic.
