Stage 2: Rigaud Road Race

The women raced 120km today just outside the city of Montreal. Within the first three kilometres there was a crash that originally took out World Cup leader Oenone Wood (Neunberger Versicherung), Helen Kelly (Quark) and Lyne Bessette (Ellicycle Sport expert Louis Garneau) and eight or nine other riders. Most jumped back on their bikes, including Wood and Kelly, however it wasn't to be the case for Canadian Bessette. Seen screaming in agony when the caravan passed by, Bessette was shuttled off to the hospital where she reportedly was diagnosed with a concussion from the crash. It's possibly that she rebroke her collarbone. At the same time, her fatherwas also reportedly sent to the hospital during the race, in an unrelated incident.
