Ontario MTB Championships September 18th

An epic course was in store for riders at Kelso Conservation combining all the elements of mountain biking in Ontario including fast open sections, technical rock gardens and some steep and technical climbs. This Ontario Championship course was only going to be mastered by riders with good fitness, skills and speed.

The Elite Men's race saw the exact same top 3 in the same order as the previous Ontario Cup at Hardwood Hills. Mike Garrigan of Team Hardwood showcased his endurance and consistency to win the event with Adam Morka of Team Hardwood in 2nd followed by the resurrected independent rider Eric Batty in 3rd. Mike Garrigan's performance didn't secure the Plastiglas Ontario Cup Overall as Derek Zanstra took the win with a 1 point lead.

Emily Batty of Gears Racing showed her late season form to take the win at Kelso. Emily had an excellent season of racing highlighted by a 13th place at the World Championships in the Junior Women's category. Her team mate Catherine Vipond of Gears Racing had a strong showing to secure the silver followed by Bay Cycle's Heather Morrissey in 3rd.

Andrew Wilson of Bay Cycle and Kaitlin Michener of Arrow Racing won the Junior Expert Men's and Junior Expert Women's divisions respectively.

Chico Racing would like to thank all of the sponsors, venues, staff, competitors and volunteers that made the Plastiglas Ontario Cup Series possible. We'd like to thank our sponsors including Plastiglas Industries, Ecclestone Cycle, Bay Cycle, Gears Bike Shop, Pedal Performance Bike Shop, Sugoi, Outpost Magazine, Uvex, Yakima Racks, Yamaha, Fuji Bicycles, Ryders Eyewear, Norco Performance Bikes, Ontario Cycling Association and all the other generous supporters.
