4,000 metres team pursuit - men
The Ukraine took its first 4,000 metres team pursuit title, by defeating the Germans. The ride for the bronze between France and Italy was awarded to the Italians. The French team attempted a rider substitution past the 1 hour allowable time limit, and refused to ride with only 3 riders.

Ukraine (Alexander Semonenko, Alexander Fedenko, Sergei Matveyev and Ruslan Pidgorny), 4:02.858, def. Germany (Daniel Becke, Guido Fulst,Christian Lademan and Robert Bartko), 4:08.116.

Third Place
Italy (Mario Benetton, Adler Capelli, Cristiano Citton and Andrea Collinelli), def. France (Christophe Capelle, Philippe Ermenault, Jerome Neuville and Franck Perque), DNS.

Womens 3,000 metres pursuit final.
1. Lucy Tyler Sharman (AUS) 3:35.255
2. Leontien van Moorsel (NED) 3:37.291
3. Judith Arndt (GER) 3:35.676
4. Yvonne McGregor (GBR) 3:39.225.
