The Canadian Cycling Association is proud to announce that Tanya Dubnicoff and Houshang Amiri have joined the national cycling coaching staff.

Dubnicoff, a former world champion and Olympic medalist in the women's sprint, joins the Canadian Cycling Association as National BMX Coach. This actually marks a return to Dubnicoff's roots, as started competitive cycling as a BMX racer in Winnipeg in the early 1980s. Since retiring from competition after the Sydney Olympics in 2000, she has been coaching at the National Cycling Centre - Calgary.

"Tanya's experience as a top competitor, combined with her proven coaching abilities, make her an ideal candidate for this job," said High Performance Director Kris Westwood.

"I'm excited to be taking on the challenge of building on Canada's current BMX success and taking it to the next level," said Dubnicoff.

Houshang Amiri joins the Canadian Cycling Association as National Cycling Centres Head Coach. He was previously head coach of the Pacific Sport National Cycling Centre in Victoria, British Columbia, and will continue to coach elite athletes there while coordinating access to National Cycling Centre services for our National Team athletes.

Amiri has an extensive background in cycling, competing as a member of the Iranian national team in the 1970s and 1980s.

"As we continue with the much-needed overhaul of our National Cycling Centres network, Houshang will have a key role in ensuring that our athletes get the greatest possible benefit from the services we can offer," said Westwood.

The Canadian Cycling Association is dedicated to developing national partnerships which deliver benefits to our National Cycling Teams, as well as the grassroots members of our organization which allows our sport to grow at all levels.
