CCA Hires Dubnicoff and Amiri

The Canadian Cycling Association is proud to announce that Tanya Dubnicoff and Houshang Amiri have joined the national cycling coaching staff.

Dubnicoff, a former world champion and Olympic medalist in the women's sprint, joins the Canadian Cycling Association as National BMX Coach. This actually marks a return to Dubnicoff's roots, as started competitive cycling as a BMX racer in Winnipeg in the early 1980s. Since retiring from competition after the Sydney Olympics in 2000, she has been coaching at the National Cycling Centre - Calgary.

"Tanya's experience as a top competitor, combined with her proven coaching abilities, make her an ideal candidate for this job," said High Performance Director Kris Westwood.

"I'm excited to be taking on the challenge of building on Canada's current BMX success and taking it to the next level," said Dubnicoff.

Houshang Amiri joins the Canadian Cycling Association as National Cycling Centres Head Coach. He was previously head coach of the Pacific Sport National Cycling Centre in Victoria, British Columbia, and will continue to coach elite athletes there while coordinating access to National Cycling Centre services for our National Team athletes.

Amiri has an extensive background in cycling, competing as a member of the Iranian national team in the 1970s and 1980s.

"As we continue with the much-needed overhaul of our National Cycling Centres network, Houshang will have a key role in ensuring that our athletes get the greatest possible benefit from the services we can offer," said Westwood.

The Canadian Cycling Association is dedicated to developing national partnerships which deliver benefits to our National Cycling Teams, as well as the grassroots members of our organization which allows our sport to grow at all levels.

Ottawa (November 24, 2005) - The Canadian Cycling Association is pleased to announce the launch of two National Team Supplier arrangements with National Car Rental and Delta Hotels. These programs are designed to offer Canadian Cycling Association registered members across Canada specialized pricing with these clients when traveling or planning meetings. As National Team Suppliers, Delta Hotels and National Car Rental have reinforced the Canadian Cycling Association's desire to partner world-class brands with world-class athletes.

National Car Rental is one of the world's largest vehicle rental companies, with a presence in eighty three countries, and in excess of 3,000 locations worldwide. National Car Rental is the preferred partner of the Aeroplan program, and offers frequent travelers National's Emerald Club program. In order for Canadian Cycling Association members to access the preferred pricing structure for rentals, members must produce their valid UCI/Canadian Cycling Association license and quote contract reference number 3713413.

Delta Hotels have grown since its founding in 1962 to Canada's leading first-class hotel management company. Delta Hotels has been named by the Globe and Mail Report on Business as one of Canada's 50 Best Employers in Canada for 2005. In order for Canadian Cycling Association members to access this preferred pricing, reservations should be made through central reservations at 1-877-814-7706 quoting "Canadian Cycling Member" as the rate code. Canadian Cycling Association members must be prepared to show their valid UCI/Canadian Cycling Association license upon check-in.
