Driver Convicted in Cyclist Death

Driver Len Kowalewich was found guilty this week of driving without due care and attention in the death of Kyle Forth, whom he hit and killed on July 6, 2004. Forth was riding in a bike lane on West Saanich Road in Victoria when Kowalewich turned directly in front of him, not seeing the cyclist. Forth hit the front passenger side of the van at an estimated 60 kilometres an hour and died at the scene from extensive head injuries. Kowalewich was fined $1500 and banned from driving for six months.

A further report can be found at the Victoria Times Colonist.
