Wanted to let you know that it has been decided to cancel the 2009 Times Colonist Cycling Festival due to lack of sponsorship support.

This is the first time in 15 years that the event has been cancelled.  Most of our long-standing sponsors have either significantly reduced their support, or have not renewed at all.  We have approached many local businesses and companies to garner their support, however its seems that many are cutting back on their marketing and community support budgets due to the tough economic climate.
 
We are extremely grateful of the support that our long standing sponsors have provided over the many years of running this event, and hope that some will return in 2010 as we hope to make this event bigger and better then ever before.
 
In the meantime, plans are currently underway to organize a smaller event (Twilight Criterium) in July 2009.
