The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) is currently undertaking an environmental scan to assist us in determining the future direction and priorities for our On the Move initiative, now in its 15th year.
On the Move is a national initiative to increase opportunities for inactive girls and young women (ages 9-18) to participate in sport and physical activity. Through education, collaboration and communication, On the Move influences change in the sport and physical activity, health, education and social service sectors to increase gender equity.
This survey is designed to determine the progress made with respect to gender equity for girls and young women in recent years, the ongoing need for a national initiative like On the Move, and ways in which On the Move could be enhanced to continue to support positive change. It is designed to be completed by a wide range of stakeholders with an interest in the health and well-being of girls and young women. The survey findings will be compiled in a report CAAWS will use to inform participants at an On the Move planning session taking place in Ottawa in December.
