February 9/10 16:31 pm - Athlete Para-Cycling Fostering Program

Posted by Editoress on 02/9/10

The Canadian Cycling Association is proud to announce the launch of the Athlete Para-cycling Fostering Program. The Athlete Fostering Program is designed to help cyclists with impairment enter a provincial or national para-cycling program. Through equipment donation, the “Foster party” will support an athlete in their introduction or achievements in para-cycling.

“Para-cycling is experiencing a tremendous growth in Canada but new cyclists are still challenge with the difficulty to access proper equipment. The Fostering Program will create the opportunity to provide upcoming para-cyclists with the adapted equipment and consequently, encourage them to pursue a cycling career.” explained Para-cycling National Coach, Eric Van den Eynde.

The CCA encourages the provinces and territories to introduce a similar program in order to promote the development of the sport.

For more information on the program and how to donate equipment, please consult the Para-cycling Development Action Plan at or contact Julie Hutsebaut, Para-cycling Coordinator at
